Aphra Behn was once a spy; and even one that got screwed over by her employer (Charles II) - and further still, thrown into debtor's prison!But when she got out, she began writing to take care of herself. Can't know much about her because of the lack of documentation for the times and also that she was considered very scandalous and even trashy - plus she was a woman, so she was fighting a losing battle for equal rights during that time to begin with. But through all that lack of history, this woman is still remembered-amazing.
Oh, she also writes wonderfully...and did I mention she was a SPY!
